Official sources reviewed October 9, 2026Steam Market Rein descriptions say that using a Rein permanently unlocks its corresponding Minion. The game's achievement list also describes unlocking a Minion with a Rein. The sources do not document the exact inventory buttons or a separate equip step.
What does a Rein do?
Each verified Steam Market listing names a Rein and the Minion it permanently unlocks when used. The Take the Reins achievement independently confirms the Rein-to-Minion relationship. For the broader roles of Minions in combat and loot hauling, see the Minions guide.
These sources establish the item's purpose. They do not show where the Rein appears in your inventory, which control uses it, how to switch Minions afterward, or whether any further equip step exists.

Legendary Rein pickup filters
Patch 1.0.0i says Legendary Reins are always picked up regardless of filter settings. This statement is about Legendary Reins; it does not establish the behavior of every other Rein rarity. If an older guide says a Legendary Rein can be filtered out, check which patch that guide covers.
Where do Reins drop, and what are the rates?
The developer has not published a complete, numerical Rein drop-rate table in the official sources reviewed here. Patch 1.0.1 says the Flying Fish King Rein drop chance was reduced, but it gives no before or after percentage. Market listings confirm an item exists; they do not prove its in-game drop source or frequency.
We do not present a precise drop percentage or a universal farming route. Any future site test will label its game version, location, difficulty, number of attempts, and observed drops.
